Klosters, Switzerland

Klosters has long been a go-to destination of Prince Charles – in fact, the trip to the Swiss location became an annual affair with his two sons William and Harry when they were growing up.

Where they stay

While the village itself is picturesque, the accommodation is on another level. The place offers some seriously luxe chalets and hotels, along with a plethora of restaurants offering anything and everything to satisfy even the pickiest of taste buds.

Bright colours are a must on any ski holiday, but it seems the head gear (both practical and entirely impractical) is how to make a true statement in Klosters. We’ll let the photos do the talking…

Verbier, Switzerland

This Swiss destination offers the full package.

Proving it’s the place for a family getaway, the York’s have been known to spend many a family holiday there along with our favourite Danish royals – Crown Princess Mary, Crown Prince Frederik and their brood of four.

But when the babysitters are in, Verbier can get pretty loose for the adults – Prince William himself proved it in 2017 when he was caught on camera having a good old boogie in a nightclub at the ski resort.

The resorts in Verbier have a selection of shops, restaurants and nightlife (as affirmed above). A standout includes the lavish Virgin Lodge, which boasts stunning master suites with fireplaces, and bunk bed laden rooms for the kids.

Meanwhile, the W Verbier Hotel includes a day spa, a half indoor-outdoor pool and steam rooms – perfect for some skiing down time!

What they wear

William’s dad-dancing aside, Verbier definitely has a real family-friendly vibe, and the same goes for the clothing.

Lech, Austria

Renowned for being the first place Princess Diana took her two young sons Wills and Harry for their first ski holiday, this one is a must-do for any royally fanatic skiers out there.

The Dutch royals are big fans, with the family-of-five often pictured frequenting the slopes.

The slopes themselves are diverse, with something for every skill-level.

The location’s stunning surroundings is more than enough, but numerous cosy chalets dotted around the area will also help your cause. Some even offer childcare services, day spas and exclusive mountain guides, guaranteeing a well-rounded ski holiday experience.

What they wear

Di’s colour of choice reigns supreme here – bright and bold reds make a strong statement on the slopes.

Some could even argue that Diana started the puffer jacket craze, a red jacket she wore in 1994 looks rather reminiscent of one worn in 2018 by none other than model and global fashion influencer Kendall Jenner.

The French Alps

You can’t go past a royal ski holiday without considering the French Alps.

A favourite of Wills, Kate and their growing brood, the stunning location is a must-do if you’re after the ultimate royal ski experience.

While on their visit in 2016, it is believed the Cambridges picked Courchevel, which is nothing less than dreamy. The resort offers more than 70 restaurants, spas and even cinemas to keep the kids entertained when you’re tuckered out after a day in the snow.

Duchess Catherine is already a style force to be reckoned with, and she proved it once again as she donned a sleek white jacket and bold red pants during the family vacation – forever our Queen of chic!
