The Bios Urn is an eco-friendly, biodegradable capsule with two sections: one to hold the plant seeds and one to hold the ashes. This is necessary because, according to Wired, the pH of human ashes is actually harmful to plants. Once the roots of the tree grow long and strong enough, the Bios Urn slowly mixes in the ashes.

If you have the opposite of a green thumb and you’re worried about forgetting to water Mom, you can splurge on the Bios Incube, an accessory to the Bios Urn that automatically waters the plant by monitoring a variety of factors such as humidity and temperature. It’ll even tell you if it needs to be moved to a cooler area.

While the entire system will set you back anywhere from $450 to $550, you can’t put a price tag on the grieving process, can you?

According to Wired, 33-year-old Jay Junker had his nature-loving father cremated, and today Junker’s father’s ashes have become part of a 5-foot white oak sapling.

For those who have decided to go this route, the Bios Urn represents an opportunity to have a living memento of Mom, Dad, Grandma, or Grandpa. Many choose to showcase the tree in a memorial garden.

“Eventually I’d like to have a mini forest where family members can walk amongst their ancestors,” Junker told Wired. “Not with gravestones and marble statues, but with birds chirping and a nice breeze rustling the leaves.”

And the Bios Urn isn’t just for humans. Some pet owners have bought the Bios Urn to remember their furry friends.

It sounds like we should change the line to “Ashes to ashes, dust to trees.”

How neat is that?
