Michael Clarke’s new pad

Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke and his wife Kyly have splashed out on an $8.5 million harbour side mansion in Vaucluse.

Rumours are swirling that Michael Clarke and his wife Kyly forked out a whopping $8.5 million dollars for their new Vaucluse mansion in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

The Daily Telegraph reports that the Aussie skipper purchased the luxury home in late March for one million dollars less than the previous owner’s original asking price.

The pair – who currently split their time between their home in the shire’s Lilli Pilli and the Bondi pad the cricketer shared with his ex, Lara Bingle – are reported to move into the harbour side property early this month.

The custom designed home is spread over two blocks sitting on more than 1,236 square metres and features five bedrooms, six limestone bathrooms as well as eight garage spaces.

There is also plenty of room in the backyard for a friendly game of cricket or playhouses for children – should the pair add children into their fold.

Apart from a new property, Michael Clarke also has other reasons to celebrate. Yesterday Australia’s cricket team was announced at number one on the world rankings following an impressive summer series thrashing over England and electrifying win against South Africa earlier this year.

“There has been an enormous amount of hard work and effort on and off the field that has led to this result,” Clarke told AAP.

“However, the true test of a great side is sustained success and now our goal is to maintain these rankings and continue to play great cricket,” he said.

It is the first time in five years the side has been on top.
