Where is the Block 2017 filmed?

The Block 2017 focuses on five massive family homes which will be rescued from demolition and transported to Elsternwick in south-east Melbourne.

“I’m really proud that we were able to save these houses from demolition and deliver the great Australian dream of a big, modern family home,” host Scotty Cam says.

“The scale of this project is like nothing we’ve attempted before – we’re transforming a street and it sure is going to test our latest crop of Blockheads.”

Why the Block won’t be returning to Sydney

All the way back in 2003 the first series of The Block was filmed in Bondi, in Sydney, NSW. It was a huge success, but will we ever see the show return to our sunny Sydney shores?

“At this stage, no … we need to get the council on board with us. That’s our biggest problem,” host Cam said to The Daily Telegraph.

The show was reportedly fined $2000 over ten times during the filming of season 1 in 2003.

“The Victorian Government realise that we bring about $20 million into the economy … we don’t have catering, so the 150 tradies all go off site to buy their food.”

“We don’t have many dramas with residents because we really look after them. And the fact is, the alternative was going to be 45 town houses on this block … instead we are putting five beautiful houses that blend in with their street and raise the value of the house across the road,” Cam finished.

Looks like until the councils get on board we won’t be seeing The Block in any Sydney suburbs any time soon.

Who won The Block 2016?

Brisbane engaged couple Will and Karlie won The Block 2016 after their apartment sold for a whooping $2.6 million.
