Sophie, Countess of Wessex is a known force to be reckoned with when it comes to the art of nailing a royal engagement.

Like her sister-in-law Princess Anne, Sophie is fast making a name for herself as one of the family’s most hard working, with her schedule always jam-packed with events she tackles with a quiet, modest eloquence so well-aligned with the much-loved royal.

Of course, some of her engagements stand out more than others – and her latest whirlwind event was case in point.

After remaining under the UK’s strict lockdown for the last few months, the 55-year-old has finally started attending engagements in-person again – and one of the first is definitely one of her most important to date.

Visiting her patron charity, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), Sophie thanked the staff and volunteers for their work amid the COVID-19 outbreak, which was more important than ever under the turbulent circumstances.

Sophie also joined a counselling shift herself, helping the volunteers speak to children who are struggling with their mental health and wellbeing.

The Palace shared in a statement: “For many young people, the already challenging circumstances they were facing have been exacerbated during lockdown.”

The statement continued: “Volunteers and staff, who are recognised as critical workers, have helped deliver over 2,000 counselling sessions a week since the outbreak to children concerned about their mental health and emotional wellbeing.”

Sophie’s visit put the incredible charity’s work front and centre as it was shared across social media.

And of course, her unique outfit also gave people a reason to stop scrolling – wearing a printed camouflage shirt dress, which featured a button up long sleeve silhouette, the Countess didn’t fail to catch our eye.

Indeed, it’s not often we see the royals don such a design in this context, and we have to say – Sophie pulled it off to perfection!

This certainly isn’t the first time the royal has made a striking statement with her fashion choices.

In fact, it was this time last year that she attended the annual Royal Ascot in a full jumpsuit – a very forward move considering how conservative royal wardrobes tend to be.

She wore the jumpsuit after the dress code rules were amended to allow women to wear the style at the prestigious event.

It was only a few weeks later that the Countess was spotted yet again at the Wimbledon tennis championships with a purse that also made a subtle statement.

Indeed it appeared her light blue and silver clutch purse featured the phrase: “I’m not saying I am wonderwoman. I’m just saying that no one has ever seen me and wonderwoman in the same place.”

The Queen of our hearts, and wardrobes, it seems – yes Sophie!

And her statement-making purse at Wimbledon in 2019 was yet another glorious addition to her knockout wardrobe.
