Sophie Dahl makes outstanding return to the catwalk

It's been more than 10 years since Sophie Dahl walked the catwalk, but she's hardly been idle.

Sophie Dahl has made a rather triumphant return to the catwalk, walking for the Temperley London show for London Fashion Week.

It’s been more than 10 years since the 37 year-old Dahl strutted her stuff on the catwalk.

The granddaughter of Roald Dahl was famously discovered by the late and great fashion stylist Isabella Blow and modelled for the likes of Versace and Alexander McQueen.

However Dahl has found plenty to do since leaving the catwalk – including writing two books, a cooking book and hosting a TV series on the BBC called The Delicious Miss Dahl, writing for Vogue and numerous other places and having two daughters, Lyra and Margot, with her husband, musician Jamie Cullum.

Dahl is a friend of designer Alice Temperely (who also made Dahl’s wedding dress) and Temperley was excited to feature her.

“She’s a friend and I wondered why on earth she wasn’t on that catwalk. She’s so unbelievably beautiful …I just said you’re looking so amazing please will you walk in my show? Don’t say no, think about it, and she did it,” Temperley told Grazia UK backstage at the show.

Dahl’s appearance on the catwalk wasn’t the only marvellous thing about the Temperley show with long-time models Jacquetta Wheeler and Caroline Winberg, who both happen to be pregnant, also walking.

Alice Temperley told Grazia UK that using these three women was a no-brainer.

“I wanted to celebrate real people and friends and people that wear your clothes. It shouldn’t just be very, very young girls. [Wheeler and Winberg] are beautiful and friends, so why not show them when they’re pregnant?”
