A growing number of major fashion labels are passing over the younger generation of models in favour of women aged anywhere from 60 to 92.

The youngest model in Karen Walkerโ€™s recent eyewear campaign was 65, Louis Vuitton has just signed up Catherine Deneuve, 70, and beauty brand Nars this week announced 68-year-old Charlotte Rampling as its new face.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen cast mature models Ursula Wallis, Esther de Jong and 65-year-old Linda Rodin for their brand The Rowโ€™s 2014 pre-fall range.

โ€œIโ€™d be lying to say I love all my wrinkles, but going into it I knew what they wanted โ€ฆ The confidence they gave me was really crucial. I loved that I was respected for who I am,โ€ Rodin said.

The Olsen twins have had an older demographic in mind for their collection which features sophisticated overcoats and classically tailored separates.

Rodin spoke of being empowered by the shoot: โ€œI am proud of myself. How many times did I have ideas that I never did anything with? And this, I did.โ€
