When it comes to holding a position of great power in this world, we have the Queen, we have politicians and we have Jessica Mulroney.
Yep, you read that last one right. And while some might be unfamiliar with her name per se, it’s actually her connections that give her such a powerful influence.
Enter the one and only Meghan Markle: Hollywood maven-turned royal, and close confidante of Jessica’s.
Incidentally, Jessica is behind one of the things that has made Meghan one of the most followed people in the world right now – her wardrobe choices.
And in a moment that has thrilled royal fans the world over, Mulroney has opened up publicly for the first time since the royal wedding in a candid new interview – and she had a lot to say.
The fashionable Canadian has long been known as one of the Duchess’s key stylists when it comes to her show-stopping ensembles.
And it would be safe to say Jessica has been wildly successful, with many of Meghan’s looks selling out in stores and online within minutes of her stepping out wearing them.
Now, in her tell-all interview with Harper’s BAZAAR, she’s proved just how influential Meghan’s wardrobe choices have been.
“If you get your item on a celebrity, that’s almost like the top of the top – a new way of creating business,” Jessica told Harper’s BAZAAR in the candid interview.
In fact, Jessica, who is a fan of Calgary-based brand Nonie, said the fashion house was saved from shutting down after Meghan stepped out in July 2018 wearing a sleeveless double-breasted blush trench dress designed by the label.

Jessica’s three young children were involved in Meghan and Harry’s royal wedding in May 2018, with her twin sons Brian and John being page boys and her daughter, Ivy, a bridesmaid for the globally-televised event.
But despite all of this, Jessica has kept very mum on her relationship with Meghan.
“This is my first interview that I’ve done since the wedding or anything,” she told the US publication.
“Every person has to have a bit of privacy in their life. There are certain things I hold very dear and secret.”

In saying that, Jessica was an open book when it came to talking about her work in styling, which gave us a clear idea about how she works with Meghan.
With the pregnant Duchess adapting her fashion choices to cater to a growing baby bump, we’re betting Jessica was on-hand to dish advice for the mum-to-be.
During the interview, Jessica provided some styling tips for all mums out there, saying: “Getting yourself dressed is the first step… It’s all about getting dressed in the morning.”
She continued: “It’s not going to be a runway outfit, but making sure you do something. Don’t be in Lululemon every day.”
Jessica also emphasised the importance of staying true to yourself and your passions, even after becoming a mum.
“To be a good mom, you have to step away from it for a minute. Whether that’s getting out of the mom outfit or hanging out with your girlfriend – and not just your mom group friends – hanging out with other women.”
We’re betting that Meghan will be taking heed from this advice as she prepares to give birth to her first child in the coming weeks.

On dealing with media
Jessica, who is also a PR pro and newly minted ‘fashion guru’ on Good Morning America, spoke up about how the press has handled her rise in the public eye as Meghan’s sidekick – which hasn’t always been easy.
After the stylist was spotted attending Meghan’s lavish NYC baby shower in February, the Daily Mail published a story reporting that her position on GMA was in jeopardy because she had declined to talk about her friendship with Meghan on-air.
“It’s not journalism. There’s no truth to it. [If] they decide they want to ruin somebody, they just will,” she said.
“It comes with the territory. There are so many benefits to certain things, but then also a lot of negativity that you have to deal with at the same time… You have to stay positive.”
And rest assured, her position on GMA was never in jeopardy, according to Harper’s BAZAAR – shortly after her candid interview with the publication, it was confirmed Jessica would be continuing her relationship with the show.

Jessica’s friendship with Meghan in a nutshell
Meghan and Jessica reportedly met years ago when the now-royal relocated to Canada in order to film hit TV show Suits. The pair became fast friends and bonded over a shared love of yoga, according to Harper’s BAZAAR UK.
Jessica served as Meghan’s ‘unofficial’ wedding planner ahead of her royal wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018, even flying to London for a weekend to help finalise plans.
What’s more, Jessica reportedly helped Meghan pick out her wedding dress designer – Clare Waight Keller, artistic director of Givenchy.
All three of Jessica’s children, twin boys Brian and John and daughter Eva served as paige boys and bridesmaid at the royal wedding.
Jessica came to Australia with her husband, Ben Mulroney, while Meghan and Harry were touring the country on an official royal visit in October 2018. It is understood Jessica helped Meghan with some of her wardrobe choices throughout the tour.
In February, Jessica made headlines once again after attending Meghan’s NYC baby shower.
