Australian author Liane Moriarty must be pinching herself right about now as her book, Big Little Lies, comes to life in the new HBO series.
On Tuesday, February 7, the drama’s lead stars gathered at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood for the red carpet premiere of the highly-anticipated show.
With a stellar line-up of A-list actresses including Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, and Reese Witherspoon, it’s tipped to be one of the most binge-worthy shows of the year.
“I’m still emotional about it. It dug so deep into my psyche. But I wanted to do service to it,” Nicole, who also produced the comedy-drama with Reese, says of playing her character Celeste.
Nic, who was just announced as the newest global brand ambassador for Neutrogena, was joined by her supportive husband Keith Urban on the red carpet, while Reese Witherspoon brought along her stunning look-alike daughter Ava Phillippe, 17.

Big Little Lies follows the story of a group of school mothers and the dark underbelly of their every-day life.
“For a minute we looked at this as a film. But it needs the time to do justice to the five women. We wanted the storylines to be evocative. We wanted them to be properly dealt with and to squeeze it into two hours would have been tough,” Nic, who starred and produced the series, explains.

During filming, the child actors from the series would often hang out at Nicole and Keith’s house and play with their daughter Sunday Rose and Faith – so sweet!
Speaking of why she was drawn to her character, Reese says: “Because I didn’t have anything to play but perfection and I just think those people who are perfect are all full of s—-. It mainly came out of me not having anything to really put my teeth into. I think there’s something fascinating about a person who projects perfection or is very judgmental of others, who is clearly just swimming in their own discontent.”
