Tuning in to Woolworths Carols in the Domain is one tradition we refuse to let COVID ruin as we wrap up the unprecedented garbage fire year that has been 2020.

Not even the pandemic can squash the festive cheer the Carols brings us as we celebrate with family and friends, whether that be in real life or via video call.

Now, in its 38th year, the spectacular event will be broadcast for all to tune in to on Channel Seven, Wednesday December 23 at 7.30pm (AEDT).

It goes without saying (as with many events and television productions this year) that Carols in the Domain will look a little different in 2020.

For starters, it unfortunately won’t be held in the famous Domain, instead will be at COVID-safe venue, Aware Super Theatre in Darling Harbour.

Seven Director of Network Programming, Angus Ross said: “2020 has been a challenging year, which makes traditions like Carols more important than ever.”

We couldn’t agree more.

Carols will look a little different this year, but Santa and his jolly get up will forever stay the same.

Larry Edmur and his Morning Show co-host Kylie Gillies will present the traditional Christmas carols sing-along broadcast. They promise more of the singing, dancing and fun we’ve come to expect, which, as far as he’s concerned, is just perfect.

“Like everybody, the year has been pretty dodgy for us,” Larry, 55, tells TV WEEK.

“It’s been the most insane year any of us has ever experienced. We had to sit on that couch and deliver a lot of bad news day after day, so I’m really looking forward to Carols.

“I just want to be part of something fun and positive – I’m very excited.”

Larry says that, like everything else in 2020, the 38th annual Woolworths Carols In The Domain will be very different to what it has been in the past, with one very obvious change up front.

“This year we’re not in The Domain,” he says. “We’ll be in the International Convention Centre [at Sydney’s Darling Harbour], so it’ll be different, as everything else has been this year. We’ve pivoted, just like every other business and every other person in the world.”

Samantha Jade is set to wow as well as many other special guests.

As we watch from the comfort of our living rooms, there will, as always, be a number of family friendly performances for the whole family to enjoy.

Home And Away star Penny McNamee, who plays beloved character Tori on the show is set to return with a carol everyone can sing along to.

“Well 2020, you tried your best to cancel aaaaall the fun things, but even YOU couldn’t cancel my favourite night of the year! 💫

Carols-not-quite-in-the-Domain coming to your screens DECEMBER 23rd! 🎶🎄💫,” Penny shared of her excitement.

This will be Penny’s fourth Carols.

Another TV favourite taking to the Carols stage is Packed To The Rafters and Five Bedrooms star Hugh Sheridan.
