As David Beckham continues to add to his body art his wife Victoria seems to been firmly focused on getting her tattoos removed.

The 41-year-old pop-singer-turned-fashion designer has reportedly undergone laser treatment to remove some of her ink because she now finds the permanent scribbles cringe-worthy, an insider tells The Sun.

“Victoria seems embarrassed about her tattoos – probably because she thinks they’re cheap and tacky,” says the source.

“But it’s still surprising she would so readily get rid of ones that had such sentimental meaning to her in the past.”

Giving weight to the rumours the stylish mother-of-four has been spotted out and about at New York Fashion Week in recent days with a fading bit of body art on her back – a vertical piece down the nape of her neck and spine which in Hebrew reads: ‘I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.’

The Daily Mail reports that Victoria has already zapped away two other tattoos from her wrist – one marking the day she and David renewed their wedding vows and the second a phrase in Latin that said ‘again from the start’ which she got when her family relocated to America in 2007.

Victoria’s reasons for ditching her ink is a bit different to the usual celebrity laser story – ie ever-lasting love gone sour. There have been many celebrities who declared their beau’s names tattooed to their bodies before changing their minds.

Okay, she may not regret this now but UK singer Cheryl Cole’s giant rose illustration on her derrière is causing many to speculate that it’s only a matter of time before Ms Cole wished she put her tattoo days behind her when she got this inked.
