Fresh-faced Nicole was just 16 when she made her big-screen debut in the 1983 film Bush Christmas. With a mop of untamed curls and rosy cheeks she was hard to forget!

By 1993 Nicole, who already added a string of film and TV credits to her name, had toned down her infamously wild strawberry blonde hair. Later that role, Nic would go blonde for her role in the psychological thriller Malice.

While attending the 66th Academy Awards the following year, the 49-year-old had totally tamed her trademark corkscrew curls and made a strong case for the classic 90s terracotta brown lipstick.

The end of the millennium saw the Aussie embraced her star status. Now a Hollywood regular having starred in Batman Forever and Eyes Wide Shut she was all about the straight but voluminous hair in a brunette hue and simple makeup.

At the 2001 London premiere of Moulin Rogue! Nicole brushed her long locks back to highlight her defined cheekbones. After splitting with husband Tom Cruise earlier that year, she returned to her roots quite literally, going back to her signature red.

Nicole supported husband-of-then-three years Keith Urban backstage at the Academy Of Country Music Awards’ Artist Of The Decade event in 2009. Old Hollywood curls, a lighter hue and statement red lips suited the new mum on Sunday Rose just perfectly.

A Cannes red carpet calls for a standout look and Nicole opted for a low, undone chignon which gave her smoky eyes extra drama. This is no doubt the look which put her on the radar for the role of Princess Grace of Monaco.

Fresh off the bat from filming the thriller Before I Go To Sleep, the Oscar-winner chose classic kohl eyes and tight curls to give the illusion of a chin-length bob – the perfect party trick for a quick hair update without the commitment of a cut.

Although she was in China for a 2014 celebrity charity golf tournament, Nic’s sideswept fringe, sun-kissed golden locks and textured ends are giving us major beach vibes.

While on the red carpet at the 87th Annual Academy Awards in 2015 Nicole embraced went back to her strawberry blonde locks but instead of corkscrew curls, the actress chose a chic, angular collarbone-grazing lob which showed off her striking features.

At her first appearance in 2017, Nicole debuted fresh platinum locks and a casual up-do to promote her new series Big Little Lies, an adaptation of a book by Australian author Liane Moriarty.
