No likes needed

Skincare company Dove are all about promoting womenโ€™s self-esteem and confidence, and now they want to let younger girls know they neednโ€™t evaluate their beauty based on how many โ€˜likesโ€™ their selfies get on social media.

According to Dove U.K.โ€™s #NoLikesNeeded campaign video, more than 1 million girls in the U.K. have low body confidence.

โ€œSix in 10 girls are telling us they feel prettier online than in real life. They feel prettier when they get โ€˜likes,โ€™ but feel bad if they donโ€™t, and so they chase more โ€˜likes.โ€™โ€

But now, as a part of their [Self-Esteem Project]( http://selfesteem.dove.co.uk/ |target=โ€_blank โ€), Dove wants to change that by encouraging young women to post selfies on social media with the hashtag #NoLikesNeeded

โ€œWe want to help girls find beauty [and] confidence in themselves,โ€ says Dove. โ€œThe only โ€˜likeโ€™ that counts is your own.โ€
