Taking 'beauty is pain' to the next level… The actress admits to undergoing bee sting therapy to stay radiant and youthful.

In a recent chat with The New York Times, the mother-of-two revealed the great and sometimes painful lengths she goes to in the hopes of maintaining her youth.

One of her more extreme methods? Bee sting therapy.

“I’m always the guinea pig to try everything,” the American star said in regards to beauty treatments.

“I’ve got to try them all. I love acupuncture. Also, I just heard of a service called a sound bath, which might be too hippie-ish even for the likes of me. It’s some new healing modality. I might not be able to handle it,” mum of Apple, 11, and Moses, 9, continued.

“But generally, I’m open to anything. I’ve been stung by bees. It’s a thousands of years old treatment called apitherapy.”

“People use it to get rid of inflammation and scarring. It’s actually pretty incredible if you research it. But, man, it’s painful.”

Bee stings for beauty? Now we’ve heard everything!

Gwyn, who has just launched her own Goop skincare line – which also happens to be so natural that you can eat it (yes, really! See for yourself in the video player below!) – also told the publication that her 11-year-old daughter, Apple is already obsessed with makeup and beauty just like her mama.

“She watches YouTube,” the Mortdecai star said.

“She’s very vocal about what she likes and doesn’t like. I sort of let her do her own thing at home. She loves experimenting. I obviously don’t let her out of the house with a full face. But I think she’s going to be way more into beauty than I am.”

Too cute! Gwyneth with her son Moses and daughter Apple in Peru recently.

This isn’t the first time the 43-year-old has been spoken of for her unconventional and often controversial beauty tips.

Last year, Gwyn posted an article on her lifestyle website Goop, recommending that women steam out their vaginas in order to deliver an energy boost and powerful internal cleanse.

Oh, but don’t worry, the Oscar-winning actress is not recommending you do this at home. Instead, if you’re ever in the Santa Monica region, you simply must drop by Tikkun Spa.

“The real golden ticket here is the Mugwort V-Steam,” she said

“You sit on what is essentially a mini-throne, and a combination of infrared and mugwort steam cleanses your uterus, et al.”

Gwyneth added that the V-Steam is “an energetic release – not just a steam douche – that balances female hormone levels. If you’re in LA, you have to do it.”

Gwyn’s beauty line, Goop has made headlines more than just a few times…

But according to Dr Jen Gunter, a certified obstetrician, gynaecologist and expert in vulvovaginal disorders, Gwyneth’s medical claims are by no means healthy or advisable.

“Mugwort or wormwood or whatever when steamed, either vaginally or on the vulva, can’t possibly balance any reproductive hormones, regulate your menstrual cycle, treat depression or cure infertility,” the professional declared in a blog post.

“Steam isn’t going to get into your uterus from your vagina unless you are using an attachment with some kind of pressure and MOST DEFINITELY NEVER EVER DO THAT.”
