Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall have revealed they were shocked by her pregnancy because they weren’t planning to start a family for a year or two.
In a candid interview in the November issue ofThe Australian Women’s Weeklythe couple revealed the Queen’s fourth great-grandchild is coming much sooner than they’d expected.
“It probably happened quicker than we thought — bit of a shock really,” Mike says.
The shock has since worn off — Zara is now six months pregnant — but the couple is still rather relaxed about preparations for the new arrival.
“I’m really looking forward to it, but I’m not sure how I’ve prepared,” Mike says. “We’ve been pretty relaxed. We’ve not sorted a nursery yet. We have ordered some stuff, but we haven’t gone further than that.”
The baby is due in January but the couple don’t know if they’re having a boy or a girl, and won’t be finding out before the big day.
“We want it to be a surprise,” Mike says.
“I hope we’re going to make good parents — that’s the plan,” Zara says.
