The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have attended the major official reception of their Australia tour, with a beaming Prime Minister hosting the Royal couple in the Great Hall of Parliament House.

Prince William delivered a speech that painted a wonderful picture of modern-day Australia and articulated the Dukeโ€™s love for the country.

He said that while he and Catherine will return home tomorrow โ€œreluctantlyโ€, โ€œGeorge goes away with his cuddly wombat which he has taken to chewing so lovingly.โ€

Tony Abbott, who referred to William and Catherine as โ€œSirโ€ and โ€œMaamโ€, thanked the Duke and Duchess โ€œfor the joy you have given us.โ€
