On Sunday, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan attended a reception hosted by Prime Minister Scott Morrison in Sydney’s The Domain. And among the school children and Invictus Games athletes in attendance, there was one familiar face who we were pleased to see.
Marathon runner and motivational speaker Turia Pitt was just one of the guests invited to The Pavilion restaurant and even had an opportunity to pose with the couple of the hour as well as the Prime Minister and his wife, Jenny.
“Solid brunch crew today. Pity Megs couldn’t enjoy the bottomless mimosas, but I did my part to help out. That’s friendship I guess!” the 31 year-old joked.
Duchess Meghan has had to cut down on some of her royal duties as a result of her pregnancy, with Kensington Palace confirming so in a statement.
“After a busy program, The Duke and Duchess have decided to cut back The Duchess’s schedule slightly for the next couple of days, ahead of the final week and a half of the tour,” a palace spokesperson stated.
However, that didn’t stop Turia from poking a little fun at the royal mum-to-be and Mrs Morrison.
On her Instagram story, the athlete and mum-of-one shared a snap of herself, Prince Harry, Jenny Morrison and Duchess Meghan, the latter two of whom were snapped mid-blink.
“Typical. Harry and I the only ones on the ball 😂” she captioned it.

Harry and Meghan aren’t the only royals Turia has had the opportunity to meet.
Back when Prince William and Duchess Catherine toured Australia in 2014 when Prince George was just a baby, the ultra marathon runner had the privilege to meet them as well.
Turia shared a picture of herself with the Duchess of Cambridge in 2017 commenting, “So overdue for a hang with my bestie, Kate. She loves my jokes. #BFF.”
Just days before Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding in May this year, Turia posted the photo again and joked about her lack of an invitation.
“You know, you think you’re friends with someone, sharing a laugh etc etc and then you don’t get an invite to their brother-in-law’s wedding? People these days, hey? 😂😂 #rude #IllBeWaitingByTheMailbox #RoyalWedding,” she wrote.

Despite having friends in such high places, Turia has had a busy 2018.
Turia is preparing for her grand return to competitive events, as in February 2019 she will run 30.5km on New Zealand’s South Island at the iconic Kathmandu Coast to Coast event.
Since she and her partner Michael Hoskin welcomed their baby boy Hakavai in December 2017, the two have been adjusting to their new roles as mum and dad.
During her pregnancy, the 31 year-old revealed exclusively to The Weekly one quality she wants to see in her son.
“I want my son to be resilient,” she told us. “I think that’s the most important thing.”
