It’s the ever versatile long-sleeved lace dress.

The perfect balance between sexy and classy, with a touch of sophistication, the lace dress is a stable of every Princess’ outfit.

Just look at Duchess Catherine, who mostly definitely knows the importance of the lace dress.

The Duchess was spotted out yesterday looking perfectly regal in a plum Dolce & Gabbana dress with a high neckline.

But don’t be so surprised! It’s a long standing royal tradition.

Duchess Catherine stepped out on Thursday in this burgundy Dolce and Gabbana dress with long sleeves and a high neck.

Did she take a leaf out of Princess Mary’s book? Mary was spotted in a sky blue Dolce & Gabbana lace dress whilst on tour in Japan.

Queen Maxima is on the bandwagon as well! She wore her Dolce & Gabbana dress in 2013 to visit Denmark.

The ever stylish Princess Madeleine wore her D&G dress, this time full length, to the Nobel Laureate presentation in 2013.

And it wasn’t her first! Princess Madeleine loves a lace dress. She wore this sapphire blue number whilst pregnant with her first child, Princess Leonor.

She dusted off this baby pink Valentino dress for the Christening of Princess Leonor.

Queen Letizia is also a fan of the lace trend. She wore this Felipe Verla dress to a reception in 2013.

Duchess Catherine knows all about the lace dress! After her magnificent lace wedding dress, Catherine has stayed faithful to lace ever since. She wore this Erdem dress on tour in Canada.

Case in point! Catherine wore this beige dress to a garden party at Buckingham Palace in 2014.

Princess Beatrice joined in the fun in 2014 at Royal Ascot.

Her sister, Princess Eugenie, worked a black lace dress in 2013.
