The Great Kate baby wait! Will the Duchess be induced?

Doctors say that Duchess Catherine is four days overdue and will have to be induced as the long wait for the royal baby continues!

Duchess Catherine herself has previously confirmed that the new bub is due “mid to late April” and with the final days of the month now drawing to a close, many believe that she is in fact past her due date.

A source of the UK’s Telegraph whose children were born at the hospital’s exclusive Lindo Wing, said: “The doctors don’t normally wait for more than a week.”

“They will probably already have been in touch with Kate, and talked about which day which suit her best to go in and be induced if the baby doesn’t arrive in the next couple of days.”

While the Palace has never publicly confirmed a due date, the Telegraph also reports that their government sources were briefed that the due date was Thursday, April 23rd.

British bookmakers widely favoured an ANZAC day baby, with April 25th by far the most popular date for the second royal with 80% of punters placing bets that that would be the day the bub arrived.

Prince William’s stoic and calm attendance at ANZAC Day memorial services with the Queen on Saturday seemed to indicate Kate was not in labour yet and the new fourth in line to the throne wasn’t in a great arrive to arrive! Meanwhile Prince George was believed to have arrived three days past his due date when he was born two years ago.

Prince William looked calm and collected as he attended ANZAC day commemorations with the Queen in London on Saturday, giving no indication that the royal baby was on it’s way.

Inducing a baby is not always strictly necessary, but could be recommended for Catherine if she is feeling uncomfortable.

Pat O’Brien, a consultant obstetrician and spokesman for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists told the Telegraph that inducing labour “a very safe procedure.”

“It’s down to the individual consultant as to when it’s appropriate to induce labour, but because it’s such a safe procedure, particularly with women who have given birth before, they tend to be pretty relaxed about inducing any time after the due date if the mother is getting fed up,” he said.

So we’ll have to wait and see when the new royal decides to emerge but any punters who placed bets on an early arrival have already lost out!

British royal superfans have been camped outside Kate’s hospital the Lindo Wing in the hopes the Duchess will arrive any day now!
