Sophie of Wessex and her family are the image of wholesome, and their latest venture has done nothing to quell the feat.

Over the weekend, new images of the family surfaced after they attended a clean up beach day in Portsmouth, where they joined with a local beach cleaning group.

Sophie and her husband Prince Edward and their two children, Lady Louise Windsor, aged 16, and son James, Viscount Severn, aged 12, were all pictured getting stuck in during the event.

The family were given litter picks and large plastic bags to fill as they made their way down the rocky beach.

In a comic turn of events, the two young siblings also shared some gentle teasing – at one point, James was seen prodding Louise’s legs with his litter pick, and later, Louise had a good chuckle at James when he was accidentally given two left-hand gloves.

“I knew there was something wrong with you,” she told him.

Sharing a series of images from the day’s events on Instagram, the official royal account explained how the family had visited the beach to shine a light on the work being done to keep seaside locations across the UK free from rubbish.

“The Great British Beach Clean is run annually by the Marine Conservation Society. This year, people are encouraged to run their own small, local beach clean with friends, family or ‘bubbles’, in line with current Government guidelines,” the Palace explained.

Fans commented on the new pictures, with some in awe of how quickly Lady Louise has grown.

“Nice work. Lady Louise is so tall now,” wrote one.

Some also commented on how refreshing it was to see the family help out in such a low-key way.

“Good effort for a good cause without drama or hogging the camera. Understated and real. As it should be,” one said.

Another added: “What a great engagement! Love that the Earl and the Countess are setting good examples for their children.”

Fans were thrilled to see such a refreshing side to the family.

The Wessex family have been busy since lockdown rules and regulations began to ease across the UK.

In early September, Sophie stepped out again to visit the Thames Valley Air Ambulance (TVAA) as part of her duties as the organisation’s patron.

Like her quick-to-the-punch children, Sophie had some witty one-liners to share with the crew and staff she met on the ground.

At one point, she told them: “I’ve been in here so often I could fly it myself,” gesturing at the cockpit of a helicopter.

She quickly added: “Now watch me fall out.”
