She’s a Duchess, a philanthropist, a world traveller, a keen tennis player, a style icon, a wife, a future Queen, a mother of two under two, and – adding to her already exhaustingly impressive resume – she’s added “qualified scuba diver” to the list.
Somewhere in between raising two littlies and being a wife and a full time Princess of England, Kate Middleton has found some time (where, we ask?!) to slip into a wetsuit and get qualified as a scuba diver.
Kensington Palace today confirmed that the Duchess completed the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Advanced Open Water Diver qualification, and can now join hubby, an experienced diver, in his underwater adventures.
Prince William, who has spent quite a bit of time under the sea, is the president of British Sub-Aqua Club and has spoken about his love of diving many time.
“Scuba diving really has opened my eyes not only to many extraordinary sights, but also to the responsibilities that we have as guardians of the underwater world,” said Prince William, “I hope that one day my son, George, will also experience the wonders that snorkelling and scuba diving have to offer.”
“At the moment bath time is quite painful,” he joked, “But hopefully donning a snorkel and mask might calm him down.”
Good luck.
