Like millions around the world, we watched and celebrated as Harry and Meghan, the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex became husband and wife. And to celebrate, we invited some our fabulous readers and subscribers to The Tea Room at Sydney’s historic Queen Victoria Building to mark the launch of our souvenir royal wedding edition.
Along with Australian Women’s Weekly editor Nicole Byers and Woman’s Day editor Fiona Connolly, our readers had the opportunity to meet fellow royal lovers including Princess Diana’s closest Australian friend Marie Sutton all while enjoying some delicious sweet treats.

Sandra Chatterton, centre in the above picture, actually appeared in The Australian Women’s Weekly in the August 15, 1962 issue, which cost one shilling.
Sandra appeared in an advertisement for Kellog’s cornflakes and admits she achieved a certain amount of “notoriety” as there was an accompanying TV commercial. See her in the magazine as well as modelling a tiara at the high tea event below.
Thank you to all our wonderful readers who visited and shared their love of the Australian Women’s Weekly, this event couldn’t have happened without you!
