Royal baby odds favour a girl as Duchess Catherine approaches due date

Royal baby bets are at an all-time high as Duchess Catherine approaches her due date with odds on that Prince George will soon have a little sister – not too soon though as a March birth seems unlikely!

As Kate enters her final few weeks of pregnancy, the bets are heating up, but it doesn’t look as though she will be having a March birth. If the bookmakers are anything to go by, odds have been slashed that she will welcome her second child in March.

Major British bookmaker Paddy Power has slashed the odds on a March birth from 6/1 to 9/2.

Meanwhile Kate’s baby bump looked bigger than ever when she attended an official Afghanistan commemoration at St Paul’s Cathedral earlier this week with many of her fellow royals.

Meanwhile it seems that punters definitely favour a Princess over a Prince, with 80% of all bets being placed on royal bub number two being a girl. What will her name be though? Clearly punters prefer a tribute to the baby’s great-grandmother because Elizabeth is currently the favourite with odds of 6/2, followed close behind by Charlotte with odds of 9/2.

Even the Duchess herself recently dropped the biggest hint yet that she would be welcoming a baby girl.

Punters seem to think the second royal baby will be a chunky bub too as odds are 8/1 that the baby will weigh in at 10lbs or more. Ouch! Even Prince George was less than that – coming in at 8lb 6oz when he was born in 2013.

Gamblers can even bet on what the Duchess will wear when she leaves the hospital – last time she favoured blue, so of course this time punters are leaning towards pink – with odds of 4/1.

St Patrick’s day marks Kate’s last public appearance before she officially goes on maternity leave. This leaves royal-watchers with nothing to do but wait and watch! We can’t wait to meet the new little Prince or Princess!
