Zara Phillips is expecting her first baby with husband Mike Tindall.
Buckingham Palace announced the exciting news in a press release this evening.
“Mr and Mrs Mike Tindall are very pleased to announce that Zara Tindall is expecting a baby in the New Year,” the release read.
“The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips, Mr Phillip and Mrs Linda Tindall, and members of both families are delighted with the news.”
The announcement — which comes just days before the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first child is due — was greeted with delight by the British public, who are enjoying something of a royal baby boom at the moment.
Zara married English rugby player Mike in July 2011 in Edinburgh. This will be the Queen’s fourth great-grandchild and Princess Anne’s third grandchild.
