The video, which was filmed in 1977, shows the Prince when he was just 29-years-old chatting to the leaders of Inter-Action UK group and young London locals, before he bravely takes a spin on a skateboard.

Watching the young skaters whiz around him, Charles proclaims: “It seems a wonderful idea to have the go-karting and skateboarding and all these sports in an inner city area.”

“You have to be jolly careful where you stand,” he laughed.

Charles happily chatted with the kids and asked: “What are you going to do? What do you call the turn at the other end?”

The charming royal shocked youths today telling them about his skating skills.

The children tell him the turn is called a kick turn, leading Charles to ask: “You’re an expert then? What about looping the loop?”

The amazing video also uncovers that the Prince of Wales actually dabbled in the street sport as a hobby.

“I haven’t done it in such a long time – I have got one of my own,” Charles admits before trying his hand at skating.

“I’m going to start down here, just to get the idea of it again, I haven’t done it in such a long time,” he laughs.

As the children cheer on the future king of England, he decides to take the plunge and start at the top of the ramp.

“This is more dangerous, isn’t it? Had I known in advance that there was skateboarding here, I would of course have bought a helmet and all the other protective paraphernalia,” he muses before he slides down the ramp and the board flies away from him.

“It takes a lot of time to get the balance, doesn’t it? Ah well, I must practice,” Charles says as he thanks the young boy who lent him the board.
