She’s famous for rarely cracking a smile but the Queen just couldn’t resist putting her pearly whites on display in Windsor yesterday.
The beaming monarch led the traditional Order of the Garter parade through her home town, with many of her children and grandchildren – including Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince William – trailing in her wake.
Dressed in a large feathered hat and hefty velvet cape, the 89-year-old royal waved at the crowds, soaking up the pomp and ceremony of the occasion.
The Order of the Garter is Britain’s third highest honour. There can only be 24 knights at any given time and must include the sovereign and heir. The Queen personally chooses each member.
