Inés Zorreguieta, the younger sister of Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, was found dead in her Buenos Aires home on Wednesday. It is understood the Queen’s 33-year-old sister took her own life and had been suffering from depression.
Inés was the youngest of her siblings, including two brothers and Queen Maxima, 47.
Queen Maxima married King Willem-Alexander in 2002, where Inés was a bridesmaid.
The royal palace in The Hague confirmed the news, with a palace spokeswoman reporting the death was a “suspected suicide”.

It was also revealed, that understandably, Queen Maxima is “deeply shocked,” and has cancelled upcoming appearances.
Ines was named godmother to Princess Ariane, Queen Maxima’s youngest daughter who was born in 2007.
Dutch broadcaster NOS reported the funeral will take place on Saturday or Sunday with only the closest family members attending.
Just last week Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander made a happy appearance at Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark’s Gala Banquet.
Friend’s and family are mourning the loss of the young woman who studied psychology and spent two years working with the United Nations in Panama.
An Argentinean publication reports that Inés had a strong passion for music, which she continued throughout the many ups and downs of her life.

It’s been a tough year for the Queen, who only 10 months ago lost her father, who passed away at age 89.
