Commuters on the 10.54am train out of King’s Lynn station to Kings Cross got a real treat when they were joined by a member of the royal family – the Queen herself.
Returning home from her annual family Christmas break at her country retreat in Sandringham, Norfolk, the 89-year-old looked every bit fabulous in her signature headscarf and a grey polka dot coat.
She was escorted along the platform – to the first-class carriage, of course – by the station manager, Graeme Pratt.
Speaking to the Eastern Daily Press, he said “It’s an honour to have her use the train service. I asked her if she enjoyed her stay in Norfolk, to which she said she did.” We’re sure it’s a moment he’ll never forget.

It’s not the first time Her Majesty has been on the one hour and 40-minute journey. She often makes the trip to Sandringham on the same service.
She’s gearing up for her next milestone – her 90th birthday. It’s a big one, so celebrations and events are expected to take place from April through to June.
