When you think of wedding gifts, we tend to think of blenders, bed sheets and maybe some cash. But they do things in the British Royal Family a little bit differently.
The Daily Mail have reported that Queen Elizabeth has gifted Adelaide Cottage to the newlywed Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a manor house in Windsor that was once home to royal rebel Princess Margaret’s lover, Peter Townsend.

The cottage is just a short walk away from Harry and Meghan’s wedding venue.
According to a source, the Queen has offered Harry and Meghan the Grade II listed property as a wedding gift. The source also claimed that the couple had been for a viewing, liked it and will move in soon.
According to heritage organisation, Historic England, the main bedroom in the generously sized cottage boasts a coved ceiling with gilded dolphins and rope ornament from a 19th century royal yacht complete with a marble Graeco-Egyptian fireplace. Pretty fancy for a cottage if you ask us!
The cottage is roughly a half an hour drive from London and is also close to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh’s private apartments and a regular haunt of Harry’s, the Guards Polo Club in Windsor Great Park.
The source also said, “There are seven gated entrances and exits to Windsor Castle so the newlyweds could come and go without worrying about being photographed.”
At the moment, the Duke and Duchess live close to William and Catherine at Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace, but watch this space.
These two will be loved up no matter where they’re living.
