Suggestions have included more tours, leasing of the Royal Familyโ€™s properties and making its facilities available for commercial events.

Weโ€™ve seen some stunning exhibitions of royal heirlooms, palaces and gardens in recent years. The Queenโ€™s finest gems were put on display for the first time to mark her Diamond Jubilee, and whole new sections of Kensington Palace were unveiled following a ยฃ12 million refurbishment.

Hopefully the Public Accounts Committee has these types of initiatives in mind, in order to put some of the Royal assets to work.

May we suggest some?
