The Queen is mourning another tragic loss just months after the death of her husband, Prince Philip, in April this year.

Now one of her close friends and reported confidants Sir Timothy Colman has passed away aged 91.

The British businessman was married to Her Majesty’s cousin Lady Mary Colman, who passed away eight months before her husband died on September 9.

Sir Timothy had been tied to the royal family for decades following his 1951 marriage to Lady Mary, which the Queen attended when she was known as Princess Elizabeth.

Had the couple lived, they would have marked 70 years of marriage this November.

Now Sir Timothy’s family – including his and Lady Mary’s five children – are mourning his loss and honouring his incredible life.

“He was a fountain of knowledge , a huge influence on a number of people of all ages, who sought his wise counsel,” the family said after revealing he had died at his Bixley Manor home.

“He had a love and huge knowledge of the natural world, but, most importantly, he loved his family.

“With his late wife Mary, he created the happiest of family homes at Bixley Manor.”

This is not the first family tragedy the Queen has had to endure this year, having lost her beloved husband Prince Philip in April.

As Her Majesty enters her later years, the 95-year-old has had to make peace with the deaths of many of her closest friends.

In the last 12 months alone she has lost four close friends, including Sir Timothy.

Her long-time friend and horse racing advisor Sir Michael Oswald died on the day of Prince Philip’s funeral – April 17, 2021 – aged 86.

In November 2020, she lost friend Lady Moyra Campbell, who was one of her Coronation Maids of Honour when she was crowned in 1953.

Just days prior to Lady Moyra’s death, Her Majesty received news that her cousin Lady Elizabeth Anson had passed away at age 79.

Those are just a few of the losses the monarch has endured in the last year and she’s attended many more funerals for late friends in recent memory.

Unfortunately, this is the reality for the 95-year-old monarch, who has had to “keep calm and carry on” even after losing so many friends and loved ones.

There has been speculation that she will begin to scale back her own royal duties in the coming years as she edges closer to 100.

Her late husband Prince Philip was 99 when he passed away, just two months before what would have been his 100th birthday.
