Another royal baby has arrived – and this time, it’s Sweden’s turn to celebrate.

Over the weekend, the Swedish Royal Palace announced the happy news that Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip had welcomed a gorgeous new baby boy – and already, we’ve got our first glimpse of the littlest regal.

In a statement released by the Swedish Royal Palace, it was confirmed the Princess had welcomed a healthy baby boy in Stockholm on Friday, March 26.

The statement confirmed both “mother and child are well”.

This is their third son, with older siblings Prince Alexander, four, and Prince Gabriel, three, becoming proud big brothers.

On Sunday evening, the Palace shared the first official photo of the gorgeous little boy, who is named Julian Herbert Folke.

In the picture, Julian is seen lying on his back with his eyes open.

Interestingly, proud dad Prince Carl appeared to take a leaf from Duchess Catherine’s photogrpahy-happy book – he himself snapped the sweet pic.

Another interesting anecdote about this particular royal birth is that little Prince Julian will not have an HRH royal title.

Indeed, he is the first Swedish royal born into the monarchy following King Carl XVI Gustaf’s changes to the use of HRH titles – while he remains seventh in line to the throne, only his older brothers will keep their titles.

Princess Sofia and Prince Carl announced they were expecting their third child back in December, but before that, the pair had shared a turbulent year as the COVID-19 pandemic waged on.

Princess Sofia gained international attention when she volunteered as a medical assistant at the Sophiahemmet Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden.

She was trained by the Sophiahemmet University College to help assist doctors and nurses in the earlier days of the COVID-19 crisis – just as the world started going into lockdown.

It was an incredible and rare move from a royal family member, and one which normalised and exemplified the work many others could do to help.

In an inspiring move, Sofia donned scrubs to volunteer in aid of doctors and nurses at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It certainly looks as though little Julian has quite the inspiring mum to look up to as he grows older.

We personally can’t wait to see more photos from the growing royal family – though nesting time with her youngest son is definitely in order for Sofia.
