Prince Frederik looks absolutely smitten with Princess Mary as she glows in stunning evening gown

Princess Mary always looks incredible and never has a hair our of place, but the 47-year-old royal just knocked it out of the park in one of her most stunning looks yet, while on a very glamorous date night out with husband Prince Frederik.

The Danish duo donned their finest evening wear to present The Crown Prince Couples Prize Award, an annual award with the purpose of recognising extraordinary achievements within Danish culture and social work.

Mary looked absolutely stunning in a terracotta asymmetric gown, while Frederik was incredibly handsome in his navy suit.

Frederik, who has been married to Mary for 15 years, looked absolutely smitten with his wife, as the couple posed for photos on the red carpet in Odense, Denmark.

On Saturday night, Mary and Frederik presented the The Crown Prince Couple’s Cultural Award and the Crown Prince Couple’s Social Award, with the winners each receiving 500,000 Danish krone, the equivalent of $AU108,000 in prize money.

The Crown Prince Couple’s Awards were set up in 2004 as a wedding gift from the Danish royal family to Prince Frederik and Princess Mary.

Eager applicants cannot apply for the awards. The recipients are nominated by the royal couple, on the basis of recommendations by two advisory committees with expertise within the areas of culture and social work, respectively.

The love story between Mary and Frederik is the stuff of legend.

Mary first met her Prince at Sydney CBD pub the Slip Inn during the 2000 Olympics. Back then, the 28-year-old had no idea she’d just met a Danish royal.

“The first time we met we shook hands,” Mary has previously revealed about their first meeting.

“I didn’t know he was the prince of Denmark. Half an hour later someone came up to me and said, ‘Do you know who these people are?'”

The first year of their romance was a long-distance relationship, with Frederik making secret trips to Australia. In 2001, Mary moved to Denmark and their story rocketed into international folklore.

In 2003, the couple travelled to Rome, where unbeknown to Mary, Frederik was planning on asking for her hand in marriage.

Now the couple have four children, Prince Christian, Princess Isabella and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.
