The Danish royals are currently keeping themselves and others safe by staying in isolation at their home in Denmark, but they’re still able to share important messages with their fans and following.
Over the weekend, the family got more candid than they ever have before, creating a beautiful home video for Instagram featuring Mary and Frederik with their four children, Prince Christian, 14, Princess Isabella, 12, and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, both nine.
And in a royal first, the two-minute clip shared via Instagram TV included the Crown Prince and Princess speaking candidly alongside their children – something we rarely get to see from them.
In the video, the Crown Princess and husband Frederik are first seen standing alone together at the Danish Palace.
If you’re not familiar with Danish, you might simply enjoy hearing Mary so eloquently speak the beautiful language – but it’s also not too hard to understand the crux of their message.
As per a handy translator in the comments section, the couple were discussing the COVID-19 outbreak, and thanking the people on the frontline, including doctors, nurses and volunteers as they tirelessly help those suffering from the deadly virus.
But the video gets better as it’s revealed the pair’s children are playing in the back yard just out of frame.
They quickly regather to be in-shot with their parents as they continue to discuss how they’re coping with quarantine.
At one point, young Prince Vincent makes the family laugh as he shares his own insight. According to the translator in the comments, the Prince was referring to their required home schooling, which he finds very boring!

While Mary, who is originally from Tasmania, keeps very busy at the best of times, it’s rare for us to hear her speaking the Danish language.
She no doubt became well clued up on it after she met the Danish Crown Prince in a chance encounter at a Sydney pub in the early 2000s.
Back then, the soon-to-be princess and former real estate agent had a very different style to her sleek and chic ensembles we’ve become accustomed to seeing her wear today.
If you cast your minds back, you might remember some of her most memorable fashion moments included those oh-so-trendy baggy denims, as well as satin extravaganzas galore.
These days, the princess often dresses things up with chic coats and perfectly primped swept back hairstyles.

With that being said, listening to her speak in the new video is refreshing to see and serves as a poignant reminder that she and her family are feeling uncertain about the affects of the global pandemic as well – just like the rest of us.
We’re looking forward to seeing more from the formidable royal as she continues to serve her country with that undeniable grace and elegance.
