Princess Mary and Prince Frederik of Denmark are officially back in the city where they first met 17 years ago!
On Tuesday, December 12th the Danish royals, who are Down Under for Christmas in Mary’s motherland, enjoyed a day of sailing on the pristine Sydney Harbour as guests of Wild Oats for the CYCA SOLAS Big Boat Challenge.
Mary, 45, and Fred, 49, could be seen taking to the wheel of the 100-foot Sydney to Hobart supermaxi Wild Oats vessel, which is owned by Australian businessman Sandy Oatley.
There’s even speculation Prince Frederik will participate in the 2018 Sydney to Hobart race.
However you would have been hard pressed to actually recognise the parents of four, who cut very casual figures in red branded T-shirts, khaki shorts and caps.
Mary looked chuffed to be back on Aussie soil.

Because who needs crowns and tiaras when you can go incognito in off-duty sailing gear?
Sydney is of course the magnificent back-drop to their epic love story and the exact bar where they met during the Sydney 2000 Olympics, The Slip Inn, is even still operating!

Princess Mary will spend Christmas with her family in Tasmania.
Mary and Fred were guests of Wild Oats.
Along with their four children, Prince Christian, 12, Princess Isabella, ten, and twins Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent, six, the couple touched down to Sydney on Tuesday.
After their whistle-stop visit to the harbour-side city, they’ll then head to Tasmania to spend Christmas with Mary’s family in Hobart, before heading back to Denmark.
There’s speculation Prince Fred will participate in the 2018 Sydney to Hobart.
Mary chats to a pal.
The athletic couple were participating in the CYCA SOLAS Big Boat Challenge.
Prince Frederik was most recently Down Under for Hamilton Island Race Week in August, when he made headlines for being rejected entry from a Brisbane pub after failing to produce relevant ID.
However the savvy royal reportedly wouldn’t take no for an answer and came back 15 minutes later flanked by seven Queensland policemen from the dignitary protection unit, who could indeed vouch for the royal’s age and identity.
Meanwhile Mary and Fred’s eldest son, Prince Christian, found himself at the centre of an international news story after he was rescued from a rip at Mermaid Beach in Queensland during their Christmas trip last year.
After Sydney, they’ll head to Tasmania to spend Christmas with Mary’s loved ones.
