To mark the beginning of the new year, Princess Eugenie took a look back at her eventful 2021 on Instagram.
The year was an eventful one for the 12th in line to the throne – she welcomed her first child, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, in February and said farewell to both her beloved grandfather Prince Philip and father-in-law, George Brooksbank.
It also was the year her sister Princess Beatrice welcomed daughter Sienna Mapelli Mozzi, Eugenie’s niece.
Taking to social media, Eugenie shared 10 photos from the past year including several of herself, husband Jack Brooksbank and their son as well as one of the Queen and Prince Philip, another of Jack laughing with his brother and father and baby Sienna’s footprints.
“Happy New Year to all.. Goodbye 2021. A year that blessed us with our boy and saw our family grow with new additions but also a year that took some of our biggest and brightest lights. Forever in our hearts ♥️,” Eugenie captioned the post.
However one that caught fans’ attention showed baby August at his November christening.
In the snap, the bub wears the tradition Honiton lace christening gown as his mum, dressed in cream, holds him and looks lovingly at him.
Due to COVID restrictions, August had a joint ceremony with Zara Tindall’s son, Lucas Philip Tindall at All Saints Chapel in Windsor.
The Queen was also in attendance and was photographed making her way there dressed in a lime green coat and matching hat.
It seems that Eugenie has taken motherhood in her stride and has also been helping her friends as they embark on their own parenting adventures.
Speaking to the UK’s Telegraph in March, singer Ellie Goulding revealed that Princess Eugenie had been helping her throughout her pregnancy.
“She’s been a great friend throughout this. We’ve talked a lot about pregnancy and she’s been inspirational because she just takes everything in her stride,” the Anything Can Happen songstress revealed at the time.
With 2022 off to a start, Eugenie has some exciting milestones to look forward to.
Not only will her son celebrate his first birthday, but in October she and husband Jack will celebrate four years of marriage.
The couple tied the knot on 12th October 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, just a few months after Eugenie’s cousin Prince Harry married Meghan Markle in the same church.
