A new initiative by the British government has seen some 41 million wills uploaded to an internet database called Probate Search, including famous and historic ones such as the former British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill.
Following Diana’s tragic death in 1997, the majority of her $40 million estate was distributed to William and Harry.
Her fortune was kept in trust funds to be accessed when the pair turned 30. William received approximately $19 million, with Harry believed to have received slightly more when he reached the milestone last year, meaning his inheritance had years to accrue interest.
In regard to how her sons would be brought up in her absence, the Princess Of Wales stipulated that her ex-husband Prince Charles consult with her mother Frances Shand Kydd, on the boys’ “upbringing, education and welfare.” Sadly Frances passed away in 2004 after battling with Parkinson’s disease and brain cancer.
As Woman’s Day reported last year, Harry also received Diana’s famous wedding dress by British designer David Emanuel from her 1981 wedding to Prince Charles.
Meanwhile Prince William received her famous engagement ring, which comprises an 18-carat sapphire surrounded by diamonds. The ring is now worn by his wife, Duchess Catherine.
Diana also left various personal items and keepsakes, including artwork and jewellery to her 17 godchildren. Her close friend and butler Paul Burrell, meanwhile, received about $95,000 in cash.
