And over the recent weeks as the charming three-year-old has stepped out on multiple occasions, including Trooping the Colour, the polo and her baby brother Prince Louis’ christening, many eagle-eyed fans think she bears a striking resemblance to her namesake and late grandmother – Princess Diana.

Just like when Diana was a little girl, the pair share the same soft smile, sparkling eyes and cheeky expression.

What’s more, after Prince William and Duchess Catherine’s only daughter, whose full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge, was filmed showing off her charismatic personality telling off photographers outside the chapel and reminding them: “you’re not coming”, well-wishers believe Charlotte has the same lively spirit as Diana.

“Princess Charlotte displays, already, charisma, charm, fun, & joy. She embodies the soul & spirit of Diana. She just makes one smile when you see her image,” one person wrote on Twitter.

While The Queen has confessed her great-granddaughter is very much in charge – and she especially loves to boss her four-year-old big brother Prince George around.

Last year in a documentary called Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy to celebrate Princess Diana, 20 years after her untimely death, Prince William opened up about keeping “Granny Diana’s” memory alive for his three young children.

“So we’ve got more photos up round the house now of her and we talk about her a bit and stuff. And it’s hard because obviously Catherine didn’t know her, so she cannot really provide that – that level of detail,” he said.

“So I do regularly put George or Charlotte to bed, talk about her and just try and remind them that there are two grandmothers, there were two grandmothers in their lives, and so it’s important that they – they know who she was and that she existed.”

As for what kind of a grandmother she would have been like, William quipped: “She’d be a nightmare grandmother, absolute nightmare. She’d love the children to bits, but she’d be an absolute nightmare.”

“She’d come and go and she’d come in probably at bath time, cause an amazing amount of scene, bubbles everywhere, bathwater all over the place and – and then leave.”

“She’d be a nightmare grandmother, absolute nightmare. She’d love the children to bits, but she’d be an absolute nightmare,” Prince William joked last year of his mother.
