Every December, we can’t wait to see royal families across the globe share their Christmas cards to mark the end of yet another year.
Whilst many tend to share traditional family portraits, some think a little more outside the box and the 2021 card sent out by the Monaco royals seems to combine the two perfectly.
Taking to Instagram, Princess Charlene shared her family’s Christmas card that featured herself, husband Prince Albert and their seven-year-old twins Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella.
Rather than a traditional photograph, the portrait of the foursome was a hand-drawn illustration that depicted Albert in a smart suit, Charlene in a stunning gold dress and the twins in their best clothes standing by an ornate Christmas tree.
“Wishing everyone a beautiful and safe festive season all my love ❤,” the royal captioned her post.

“That’s so beautiful ❤️,” remarked one.
“We all hope to see you soon again. Merry Christmas Princess Charlene ❤️,” penned another.
The card also shares a striking resemblance to the card sent out by Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex in 2020 that showed a photo of the couple, son Archie and their two dogs illustrated with a cartoon filter.

Whilst one showed the family with Prince Albert’s younger sister Princess Stephanie and her children, Louis Ducruet and his wife Marie, Pauline Ducruet and Camille Gottlieb, another featured Albert dressed in red with matching red Crocs, novelty reindeer glasses and a Santa hat posing with his twins in front of a Christmas tree.
“Merry Christmas to all our friends and families , love you all ❤️,” Charlene wrote at the time.

Charlene’s seasonal photo comes at the end of what’s been a challenging year.
The former Olympic swimmer spent much of 2021 stuck in her home country of South Africa due to a painful illness and was unable to return to Monaco and didn’t see her husband or children for months on end.
Though Charlene returned to Monaco in early November, she has temporarily stepped back from public duties and retreated to a secret location to recover from her ordeal.
