With the announcement of Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s engagement on Thursday, royalists world-wide could not be more excited for another royal wedding.
Buckingham Palace announced the news via a statement, revealing that Edoardo proposed to his princess while they were away in Italy at the beginning of the month.
And of course, royal watchers could not get enough of the simply stunning and fun photographs released to mark the occasion – including one of the absolutely spectacular ring.
We of course have been anticipating an engagement announcement, even though the pair have only been together ten months, and it looks like Edoardo knew that “Bea” was the one, even as early as four months ago!
According to HELLO, the Italian millionaire consulted Mayfair atelier Shaun Leane to design the ring.
The beautiful diamond ring was “hand-cast in platinum” with the central diamond a 2.5 carat stone with two baguettes on either side (¾ of a carat each).
“The diamonds are ethically sourced and of the highest colour and clarity,” he told the outlet.

According to the designer, Edoardo is very “romantic”, “considered and thoughtful”, having a firm idea of what he wanted before he went to see the jeweller.
He wanted it to be a “modern classic” with an infusion of art deco and Princess Beatrice’s aesthetic for Victorian.
“The actual ring is handcrafted, so the whole process has been about three to four months, from Edoardo coming in to see me. We talked about the design and shared thoughts and elements to put into it to make it personal.
“I would say the design took about two months, less than that, maybe six weeks and then the crafting of the ring has been about eight to ten weeks,” revealed Shaun, who has also designed rings for Duchess Catherine and Duchess Meghan.
After meeting with “Edo”, as he’s so affectionately called, Shaun sketched the ideas between forty and fifty times until the property developer was happy with the design.
The process also included looking at stones, “their colours and clarities”, before the physical creation of the the ring took place.
According to the outlet, the atelier felt that designing the ring was a “wonderful experience” and has been informed that Princess Beatrice “loves” the ring.
“He said she adores the ring and that she’s really happy. It so lovely, it really is so lovely, they’re such a beautiful couple.”
In a nod to Princess Beatrice’ love of the Victorian era, there was a personal message from her fiancé which during the time, they would incorporate “beautiful sentimentally into the design”.
“Unfortunately, they are personal, so I can’t reveal what those are,” the atelier, who will also design the wedding band, said.
In the statement, released by Buckingham Palace, the young couple will tie the knot in 2020.
“We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement,” the lovebirds revealed in the official statement.
“We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married. We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead full of love and happiness.”
Beatrice’s proud parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson also shared their thoughts revealing: “We are thrilled that Beatrice and Edoardo have got engaged, having watched their relationship develop with pride.
“We are the lucky parents of a wonderful daughter who has found her love and companion in a completely devoted friend and loyal young man. We send them every good wish for a wonderful family future.”
