As Princess Anne nears the ripe age of 70, there’s no denying this royal has had one very colourful life.
The Princess will celebrate her birthday this coming weekend, so to mark the milestone, the Palace has shared a series of beautiful images from her most defining decades – and there’s one picture that’s got fans in a right royal tizz.
Over the weekend, the official Instagram account of the royal family uploaded a series of images to their story, revealing they would be sharing the pics each day leading to Anne’s birthday featuring her most defining moments from over the years.
Monday’s series of pics was quite the treat, as it was Anne’s teenage years that were showcased front and centre – and anyone who’s followed the Princess royal for years will be well aware that this particular decade and the following was a spectacle in itself.
A low-key fashion icon, Princess Anne was in her style hey-days in her late teens to her 20s, so obviously, we flocked to fawn over the Instagram story.
The first picture featured Anne partaking in one of her all time great loves – horse riding.
“When [Anne] was 13, she started at Benenden, a boarding school. She took her O levels and A levels and competed for the school in equestrian events!” Buckingham Palace explained.
There was an uncanny detail in the image that we couldn’t help but notice – she looked the spit of her daughter, Zara Tindall when she herself was that age.
They do say like mother like daughter…
In more photos shared by the palace, Anne is seen carrying out her very first royal engagements in 1969 – back when she was just 18 years old.
Visiting a children’s shelter in Edinburgh, Anne walks with two young girls wearing an ultra chic white pea coat and hat – a true 60s style muse.
The royal’s official account also shared several more pictures to their Instagram grid featuring some adorable shots of Anne as a child.
The bright blonde, curly haired royal is absolutely adorable as she is seen beaming in images alongside her parents, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, along with her brother, Prince Charles.
We can’t wait for more defining decades to come over the course of the week!
