As part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, several members of the British royal family will be embarking on royal tours this year – including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Kicking off on 19th March, Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge will visit Belize, Jamaica and The Bahamas for a week long tour, however this international trip is more significant than you’d expect.
The tour marks the royal couple’s first joint international tour since March 2020 when they visited Ireland, just before worldwide lockdowns came into force due to the coronavirus.
However this isn’t their first official overseas trip since the pandemic started – Prince William visited Dubai in the UAE earlier this month, while Catherine has just returned from a two-day trip to Denmark.
What’s more, the couple along with their three children Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six and Prince Louis, three, visited Jordan last year for an unofficial holiday where they posed for their now famous 2021 Christmas card.
Royal fans suspected a royal tour would be announced imminently when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s representatives were spotted on Belize’s largest island, Ambergris Caye, in January.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s royal tour will start in Belize where they will visit the historic Mayan sites and celebrate the country’s biodiversity and Garifuna community culture.
Jamaica is their second destination where they will meet with the Jamaican Defence Force and celebrate some of the country’s biggest music stars, including the late Bob Marley.
Finally, the couple will arrive in The Bahamas to meet with communities across a number of the islands and experience a world famous junkanoo parade.
Prince William and Duchess Catherine aren’t the only royals on tour as part of the Platinum Jubilee.
Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall will visit Ireland towards the end of March whilst Princess Anne will visit Papua New Guinea in April.
Meanwhile Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex will head to the Caribbean in late April and visit Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, St Lucia, and St Vincent and the Grenadines
