Prince William and Duchess Catherine have had a somewhat of a turbulent day as they continue their royal tour of Pakistan.
After a colourful morning partaking in a cricket tournament and visiting a school is Islamabad, the pair were then taken on their royal airforce plane with the intention of landing at the Pakistani royal airforce base.
But what was meant to be a simple 25 minute journey didn’t quite go to plan.
As the plane took off, it was hit by heavy turbulence, forcing it to abort its landing as a storm raged on.
Instead of 25 minutes, the pair were reportedly in the air for two hours as the plane weathered the storm.
Journalists who were on the same flight as the royals commented on the alarming experience.
“After shaking around in the air, the RAF Voyager used for the #royalvisitPakistan turned around and has just landed back in Lahore (where we started),” ITV royal reporter Chris Ship shared in a Tweet.
PEOPLE‘s chief foreign correspondent Simon Perry also took to Twitter to detail the alarming experience.
“Phew. Landed! But in Lahore. A terrifying electrical storm hit as we tried to land at Islambad. Lightning seemed to be crashing around the right wing. Despite the best efforts of the pilot William and Kate’s RAF Voyager plane we couldn’t land there,” he wrote.
Eventually, the flight landed back where it had started – back on the tarmac of Lahore.
After a stressful evening, we’re glad the royals and everyone on the plane is back safely on land!
Earlier in the day, the royals had a stress-free day, stepping out in Islamabad to meet with local teenagers, as well as taking part in a cricket tournament in Lahore.
The tournament was filled with laughs, spirit and provided the perfect opportunity for the royals to show off their skills!

As the day kicked off, Kate wore a gorgeous white shalwar kameez, designed by Gul Ahmed.
Before the cricket, the Duchess accessorised the look with a Maheen Khan shawl, a Mulberry clutch and a pair of J.Crew suede pumps.
But ever the chameleon, Kate transformed her look to sporting chic by putting her hair into an elegant pony tail and switching her heels for a pair of flat sneakers by Hampton.
In the afternoon, the pair paid a visit to a mosque in Lahore.
Kate looked absolutely stunning in a bespoke teal Shalwar Kameez, which was handmade by Maheen Khan from London boutique O’nitaa.
The incredible garment, which featured gold detailing and a beautiful scarf which Kate wrapped around her face as she visited the mosque was breathtaking.
After an especially jam-packed day of events, we’re hoping the royal’s fifth and final day of the tour involves a stress-free ending.
But if there is one thing we can guarantee, it’s that Kate will no doubt have another wardrobe spectacle for us to see.
