The future King of England turned 34 on Tuesday, but instead of being pampered and treated like royalty on his birthday, Prince William was forced to stow his own bags as he caught an economy class flight home from France.
Surprising passengers on the flight from Lyon to Heathrow, the president of the Football Association appeared downcast as he boarded the plane.
According to the Daily Mail, the Prince dozed off as soon as he sat down, clearly tuckered out from the Euro 2016 match between England and Slovakia.
James, a fellow football fan and passenger on the same plane, told the publication, “We were all tired after being put through a roller coaster of emotions so I don’t blame him for falling asleep.”
The Prince flew to the Saint-Exupery airport in Lyon to arrive just in time for the match, where he cheered excitedly alongside chairman Greg Dyke in a dark blue suit adorned with a striped blue, red and white tie.

Before kick-off, the second in line to the British throne joined in on a resounding chorus of the English National Anthem, God Save the Queen.
Although he may have had a lonely flight back home, the father-of-two would have been delighted to meet up with his wife Duchess Catherine and their children, George, two, and Charlotte, one, for birthday celebrations.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time the Prince has snubbed first class to fly economy. In 2014, he sat among passengers in coach as he flew from New York to Washington DC to meet President Barack Obama.
