While visiting towns ravaged by Cyclone Yasi, William revealed his love of scuba diving, and named the Great Barrier Reef as a possible honeymoon destination following his wedding to Kate next month.

“I love scuba diving,” William told the UK’s Daily Telegraph.

“I have always wanted to dive the [Great] Barrier Reef. I will have to come back. Maybe we’ll have a honeymoon in Cairns. It’s much nicer down here. The weather at home is dreadful.”

William is due to wed Kate on April 29 in London’s Westminster Abbey. Several destinations are rumoured to be in the running for the couple’s honeymoon, including Kenya, where William proposed, Wales, where the couple have a home, the Maldives and Scotland.

Regardless of whether William and Kate choose Australia for their honeymoon, the prince promised the cheering crowd he would be back with his new bride “in a few weeks”.

William is due to visit flood-damaged towns in Victoria today, before flying back to London. He began his five-day visit to Australasia in New Zealand last Thursday. He toured areas affected by the Christchurch earthquake and last year’s Pike River mine disaster.
