Oh to be a fly on a wall at a palace party where the drinks are BYO and the guests include the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!
Last night Prince William and Duchess Catherine were spotted leaving trendy restaurant and bar Beach Blanket Babylon in Notting Hill after a boozy Christmas bash for Kensington Palace staff.
The annual Christmas event was a true royal affair with Prince harry and his fiancée Meghan Markle, as well as Prince Charles, also believed to have been in attendance.
The Daily Mail reports the Palace hired out the upstairs ballroom of the trendy Beach Blanket Babylon, for an estimated £110 ($193) a head.
A source has revealed that somewhat surprisingly, the event was BYO alcohol. It’s believed party-goers brought their own drinks to the party as the restaurant had recently had its alcohol licence revoked.
Of course it wouldn’t be wise to throw a party where guests brought their own booze, without providing them with something to line the stomach.
Guests dined on a hearty three course meal starting with a choice of salmon, avocado vignette, and wild mushroom soup. For mains, there were five dishes on offer including a traditional and indulgent roast turkey ‘with all the trimmings’. A classic Christmas pudding topped the list of three dessert options.

Rain spattered the pavement as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made their exit from the party just before celebrations wrapped up. The pregnant Duchess wore a black and red Alexander McQueen smock dress and kept her head bowed as she and her husband climbed into an awaiting Range Rover to return home.
According to a source, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left much earlier.
