Doing away with a morning service, Prince Louis’ christening will commence at 4:00pm sharp in the afternoon on Monday, July 9th at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, London.

It’s a stark contrast to his older siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte, whose baptisms started in the morning.

Why Meghan Markle won’t be Prince Louis’ godmother…

Meanwhile, speculation over who Prince Louis’ godparents will be has reached fever pitch.

Although Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were initially firm favourites, experts predict Wills and Kate will stick to good friends over dignitaries or relatives who are already aunts and uncles through blood or marriage.

In fact, the bookies are so confident the Duke and Duchess of Sussex won’t be called up for the honour that they’ve slashed the odds for Meghan Markle at 14/1.

“As with George and Charlotte, William and Kate chose close and trusted friends and aides, rather than immediate family members, and the odds suggest that will be the same with little Prince Louis,” Jessica Bridge from British bookmakers Ladbrokes said.

It’s believed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t be picked as godparents as they are already Louis’ uncle and aunt.

Who will Prince Louis’ godparents be?

So, just who are the top contenders then?

Bookies are predicting Prince William and Prince Harry’s former nanny and close family friend Tiggy Pettifer could be a godmother, with odds at 2/1, while William’s former private secretary Miguel Head has 5/4 odds.

Another dark horse that’s been tipped is Prince William’s stepsister Laura Lopes, whose mother is Duchess Camilla.

One thing that’s certain, there’ll be a long list of godparents picked to help mentor little Louis throughout his life.

Princess Charlotte has five godparents with Sophie Carter, James Meade, Adam Middleton, Laura Fellowes and Thomas van Straubenzee her official custodians.

Similarly, in 2013 William and Catherine selected seven people to take on the role as godparents for their first-born son.

Among them were friends of the couple Oliver Baker and Emilia Jardine-Paterson as well as Earl Grosvenor, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, Julia Samuel and William van Cutsem.

Zara Phillips, Prince William’s cousin, was the only member of the Royal family to be selected as one of George’s godparents.

Prince Louis’ godparents will be announced in due course, but there’ll be a long list of chosen guardians.
