Prince Harry is bound be to reminiscing about his time in Lesotho, Africa, on the first anniversary of his trip there for his charity, Sentebale.
Following in his late mother Princess Diana’s footsteps, Harry co-founded the charity Sentebale, which supports organisations and projects that help disadvantaged children.
The main focus of last December’s trip was to see the progress being made on the new Mamohato Children’s Centre.
Once complete, the residential centre will be used to host week-long camps for children living with HIV, which will include workshops aimed at helping them overcome the stigma attached to the illness and allow them to access psycho-social support.
“These are children who have never had the chance to talk about their illness, and who had no idea that they were one of so many in their age group,” Prince Harry said after visiting some of the children.
“It was really emotional watching them interact with each other.
“Some really outgoing chatty kids, others slightly overwhelmed, but all with huge smiles.
“This confirmed to me again that what we’re doing is going to change thousands of children’s lives, and hopefully save a generation.”
The Prince was so moved by the children, that he decided to become an amateur photographer and take snaps during the trip.
Speaking about his passion for photography, Harry said: “I have always enjoyed photography and the challenges that come with trying to capture the perfect shot, although privately I don’t take many photos.
“The best photos I have are in my head – I have some very special memories, mostly from Africa.”
Prince Harry is expected to join the Queen and the rest of his family at Sandringham House for Christmas this year.
