Prince Harry has kicked off his nine-day tour of the US with a visit to Capitol Hill and a charity event hosted by first lady Michelle Obama.
His Capitol Hill appearance sparked screams from 500 fans and staffers who were keen to catch a glimpse of royalty. “’I’m sure it’s not the first time he has had that experience, but in all the years I’ve been coming here I’ve never seen such an unbalanced gender gap,” former presidential candidate John McCain said.
Harry then joined the first lady at an event held in honour of military mothers and their children in place of her husband President Obama.
His visit comes as Queen Elizabeth II cuts back on her official duties, turning to her son Charles and grandsons, William and Harry.
