Could it be a new career for the Prince? Perhaps not. Harry confesses to not understanding the jargon as he tries out being a stockbroker for a charity event in London.
Prince Harry was attending an annual charity fundraising event held by stockbrokers in London’s financial district where celebrities try their hand at trading shares with all funds raised being donated to charity.
Not one to stand back when there’s fundraising to be done, Prince Harry jumped in and got on the phones himself to help raise funds.
One of the London stockbrokers, costumed in fancy-dress instructed Harry to say: “Dec Jan barges BNP buys from BP 25kt plus 1/4 via ice block.”
A bamboozled Harry though couldn’t quite get his tongue around it, complaining that it was “gibberish”.
“Are you taking the mick?” said the Prince. “You are making up your own dictionary of words. I have never heard so much rubbish in my life!”
Although he might have struggled with the jargon, the stockbrokers were nonetheless impressed by Prince Harry’s broker skills as he squeezed plenty of money out of the clients!
One of the brokers, Alexander Blayney, said that Harry snatched the phone out of his hands: “My seller was finished selling. He snatched the phone off me and forced him into some more for charity. He is a better broker than me, put it that way. It was class. Natural talent.”
Other celebrities in attendance included Dame Helen Mirren and a fellow redhead, Homeland star Damian Lewis, who was recently awarded an OBE by Harry’s brother, Prince William. When Harry bumped into Damian, he exclaimed: “I see another ginger!”
Perhaps it will take a bit more practice with the lingo though before Harry considers the stock market for a second career!
